dimland radio 3-9-24 show notes

14 years of Dimland Radio on Z Talk Radio! Yay, me!

The skeptic’s show has outlasted all the other Z Talk show! Ha! Was there any doubt? (Well, maybe there was some.)

Almost two years after having COVID for the first time, I got hit again. Another anniversary of sorts, you could say.

After two negative tests, this one finally showed positive.

I’m not 100% certain where I picked up the bug, but I’m reasonably certain it came from the comic store. Both of my bosses came done with it. One of them worked with me on my Saturday at the store. He was OK at the time and wore a mask to be careful, since he had been exposed to the other boss who was sick earlier in the week.

It was not pleasant. I did get a few days off from work, but I had difficulty attempting to relax.

I finally have a copy of my own!

The photo above, which I posted in last week’s show notes, shows my copy of The Avengers #1. A grail I thought would be forever out of my reach, but selling house put it right in my hands.

Now, it’s packed away in a box, in a closet, to never be seen again. I just know it’s there.

Ok, I do take it out of the box to hold it and gaze at the cover. And I might hug it. Just a little. Nothing too weird.

Another clue thing is something social media brought to my attention.

I didn’t reveal what it is on the show and I would spoil it here. Just go to this page and enter 121g in the search window and have a good chuckle. Good on you, O’Reilly Auto Parts!

Look at Speaker Mike Johnson back there. He’s thinking, “I’m going to hold my breath until I turn blu… Oh, no, I can’t do that. Blue is the Dem’s color. Maybe I’ll just shake my head now and again. Yeah, that will wor…. GAH! There’s a woman standing next to me!!”

Jacked Up (thanks Sean Hannity for another great nickname for this defender of democracy and thanks Seth Meyers for bringing it to my attention) Joe’s State of the Union speech showed that he’s not so sleepy after all.

Watch the entire speech here.

The seemingly indestructible Keith Richards

Keith Richards, a crusty, old rock star of some note, recently released a cover version of The Velvet Underground’s I’m Waiting For The Man, a song about a junkie waiting for his drug dealer to arrive. It’s a really cool song about a definitely not cool thing.

Richards’ version is good, but not as good as the original. I had a dumb thought while watching the video of Keith’s version.

It was a dumb thought. It’s a good thing no one listens to the show. My secret will be safe.
