Was This The First Album I Bought?!

Yes, but is it punk?

I was asked on a friend’s podcast (more on that when the show drops) what was the first album I bought. Honestly, I’m not sure. It might be the 1980 novelty classic Chipmunk Punk by Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Not the must sophisticated music listener in those days, but I was just beginning to learn. I was still a couple of years away from seeing The Who in concert for the first time, so don’t be too harsh on me.

But was Chipmunk Punk even punk? You tell me.

This Guy Died

What?! He supported Fearless Loser?! NO!

This Picture Has A Point

The nipples bad from good to good on one and good to bad on the other. They’re the same nipples!

It’s Pride Month and the two trans people in the photo demonstrated the weirdness America has about women’s breast by going topless on the White House lawn during a Pride event. Although, I’m not sure that was their intent.

The woman in the photo is Rose Montoya. She’s an activist who got caught up in the moment and show herself off. The White House banned her. She has apologized for her actions.

It’s Not True: Open Says Me

Hey! Why not Google it?

My wife asked if the statement above is true.

It’s not.

Although, the origin of “open sesame” phrase isn’t clear (there are a couple theories), we can point right to where “open says me” comes from. A Popeye cartoon from 1937.

If you watch the cartoon, be warned, it’s from 1937 and it gets a little cringy in its depiction of Arabs.

Red Dawn Is A Ludicrous Movie

It’s really, really stupid! It’s Red Dawn (1984) starring Patrick Swayze and several other young (at the time) actors.

I had my doubts that it could be any good. And I was right.

This movie was a mess. Poorly act and very badly edited, and completely unbelievable.

I say don’t bother. It’s dumb.

Roger Might Cringe Today

She thought she was having sex with her boyfriend. She didn’t give the nerd consent.

In the same episode of Siskel & Ebert At The Movies, in which they review the dopey Red Dawn (Gene Siskel kinda liked it!), they review Revenge Of The Nerds. Roger Ebert (who rightly hated Red Dawn) mentions his favorite part was the nerd getting the hot blonde. Looking back on the scene where the nerd wins the blonde’s heart appears awfully rapey today.
