I Forgot To Mention Last Week
Last week’s show was number 500!
Sure, it’s an arbitrary milestone. For some reason people put more emphasis on getting to 500 than 499 or 501. But what are ya gonna do?
I’ve done 500 shows.
Well, 501 now.
More Car Trouble

Or maybe it’s just a continuation of the problems our Kia Soul was having a few months ago. I don’t know at this put, because the service department at the dealership is quite busy and they haven’t gotten to take a look at our ailing vehicle yet. They tell me they might be able to get to it on Monday.
So, I told the harrowing tale of getting stranded on I694 East. I had trouble getting the roadside service arranger to find my location. I was mostly to blame for the confusion.
There were a couple of interesting side moments as part of the whole towing event.
One involved the breaking of the rule to never talk religion or politics upon meeting someone for the very first time. The other had to do with the chirp of a certain home implement that needed its battery changed.
A Dimland Radio Science Zero: Jon Stewart

Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart isn’t helping.
Stewart was the first guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on its first show in front of a full audience since March of 2020. Colbert had been producing shows from a shed in some secluded location during the pandemic. But, with the vaccine roll out, Colbert felt comfortable enough to tape the show in front of audiences again. Fully vaxxed audiences.

It was suggested that Jon Stewart was doing his whole satire thing, but his over-the-top, paranoiac rantings about the lab in Wuhan, China having the same name as the kind of virus that caused the pandemic (it doesn’t) just didn’t come across in his usual satirical style. At least, I didn’t read it that way. And I imagine many watching didn’t read it as being satire either. And some of them are going to think Jon is onto something when it comes to the whole “lab leak” conspiracy theory.
There’s a former Fearless Leader who is probably thinking that Stewart has seen the light on the whole “China Virus” bullshit. And some at Fox News are thrilled.
Was it satire? As I said, I didn’t read it that way. It might have been, but the damage Jon Stewart did with his manic rant, even if he doesn’t really believe it, makes him a Dimland Radio Science Zero.
SciBabe agrees with me.
A Dubious Lesson In Sharing

Christmas in July is a thing. Why not Christmas in June? Especially when I’m trying to fill an hour of Dimland Radio. Not always easy.
The story came to mind when I was talking to the boss’s wife and the concept of sharing came up. I remembered a gift I received from my godfather one Christmas many, many years ago. It was a package of Santa suckers.
There were six suckers in the package and, coincidentally, there are six members of my immediate family. Mom saw that and said, “Oh, look. There’s enough for you to share with the whole family.”
“Share?! Aw, Mom!”
Three Cool Things

Cool Thing #1: Lou Ferrigno gets cochlear implants. Thank you, Science!

Cool Thing #2: Stewart Gillies, someone you may not have heard of, is the brother-in-law of a friend of mine. He’s also a musician who plays the drums. He’s been in a few bands, but never hit the big time even in his home country of Australia. Still, he’s very good and he did a tribute to drummer Simon Phillips by doing a drums cover of the Pete Townshend song Give Blood.
My friend knows of my admiration of Townshend and he thought I would appreciate it. He was right. Check out the tribute here. Very cool!
Cool Thing #3: It’s Father’s Day! The most important day of the year!

Happy Father’s Day!
Be patient. Wash your hands. Wear a mask where required. AND GET VACCINATED!
