We Have Internet!

After waiting seven weeks, we finally have internet at my dad’s place.! Yay!!!
CenturyLink, our former internet provider, can schedule an appointment to install our portal to the world wide web. They just can’t keep that appointment. My wife took a day off of work needlessly. I lost eight hours of work for Nostalgia Zone (see ad below).
Will they offer us anything other than an obligatory “we’re sorry for any inconvenience”?
Another internet provider got us hooked up within four days of our signing on to their service. See how easy that was, CenturyLink?
An Atheist On I Survived?!

It’s a show on broadcast TV that helped my wife and I through the no internet horror from which we have just recently emerged. It’s shown on Court TV when the there ain’t any court show on.
The stories told by the survivors themselves are quite harrowing. Especially, the stories of people surviving attempted murder. The show may not be for everyone, but I enjoy it.
One episode featured a survivor, who wasn’t religious and didn’t credit God for getting him out of a situation that God didn’t prevent in the first place. Amen, brother! Preach it!
Bill O’Reilly is spinning in his grave!
Hm? What’s that? O’Reilly’s not dead? Huh.
Cool Thing: My Brother Got Married

And I was Best Man!
It was wonderful and Leslie, the bride, was lovely (if terrified). Steve (my brother) forgot his cell phone was… (I elaborated on the show.)
And I was Best Man!
Another Cool Thing: Revisiting Family History

A couple years ago, the St. Paul Pioneer Press published a supplement in one of its Sunday editions, which featured a retrospective of photographs that have appeared in its pages over the decades. The photo above is one of them, originally posted in June, 1942. See that little boy in the overalls with a note pinned to it? The boy in the middle of the group? The boy in the red circle!!!
That’s my uncle Ralph!
He was about 8 at the time. He’s still among the living, making his home in Fremont, California. He and his daughter Jeannie came to town to attend Steve’s wedding.
And I really have to thank my cousin. I had only thought of getting a picture of Uncle Ralph holding that old image, but Jeannie had the fantastic idea of taking the pictures on that very spot. Brilliant!
Thanks, Jeannie and Uncle Ralph!
